Q WHY ARE TREATMENTS SO IMPORTANT IN CORRECTIVE HAIRCOLOR?
A. Treatments
ensure that the rebuilding of the cuticle of the hair is done in a timely fashion. When the hair folicle has been broken
down by improper hair coloring or improper home hair care, it needs to be renourished. When the hair is in its best shape,
constant hair color changes can happen but when the health of the hair is disregarded, tone of the artifical hair color will
not hold. That is when we fight hair color fadage. Shampoos and conditioners are very important. A home remedy for hair treatments
can be done using Almond oil. An oil pack is one way of helping too-dry hair. Don't use olive oil; Poly-unsaturated oils penetrate
into the hair shaft better than olive oil. Wrap your head in a hot, damp towel and leave the oil pack on for a couple of hours,
then shampoo. Don't forget your finishing rinse or protein conditioner. I try to keep a full arsenal of conditioning
treatments for all different cases but I particularly like to prescribe the NANOKERATIN Treatment for degraded hair color
cases. The MOROCCANOIL MASK is a wonderful at home treatment also. A customer must understand that home hair care is very
important, and that permanent haircolor is permanent not the tonal value of the color. Always protect the hair from the sun,
chlorine and blow dryer. Always use a product in the hair when styling and a lite hairspray when flat ironing.
 Q. Why is my hair color not always
the same?A. Lack
of consistency and taking too many short cuts causes an inconsistent hair color. I feel customer cards are very important
for recording formulas and cheat notes. Make sure that when your hair dresser formulates a color that it is immediately written
down. Design the color to fit the hairstyle. Ask your stylist if he or she has changed their color inventory to a different
brand. A good stylist will ask if there will be any changes to the color service. When changing your style, your color design
has to change but not your color or highlights. I prefer to suggest a winter, spring, summer or fall color to my clients.
Porosity is always a key factor in hair color. The way the client is taking care of the color is also very important.
Using the right treatments is a must. Styling lotions are very important when you are blow drying. Remember in hair color
the client must protect the hair from the sun and heat of the blow dryer. This and not skipping your regular appointments
will vastly improve the length of the hair color. Permanent hair color is permanent, not the tone of the hair color.
When a customer comes to me for hair color correction, there must be a follow-up appointment. This is basically to see
the condition of the hair and the fade hair color or tonal value. Alot of consumers do not see the importance of multiple
haircolor appointments. In this day and age the consumer will want a final fix on the first appointment, and to be realistic
that cannot be done with the corrective haircolor process. Corrective Hair color is a step-by-step
approach!

MoroccanOil -
For The ClientSome benefits Moroccan Oil provides for you hair include increased
manageability; less frizz; enhanced color and color that lasts longer; increased elasticity; great shine and gloss. Moroccan
Oil speeds up drying time of your hair up to 40%. Moroccanoil can and should be used with color applications as well. The quantity needed per usage is perhaps
a dime shaped amount rubbed into the stylists palms and then through the hair of the stylee. If you have oily hair, you may
think that Moroccan Oil will make your hair too oily. Actually, to be healthy, all hair needs to have a fine balance of natural oils and vitamins. Moroccanoil
provides these much needed nutrients and makes the hair smoother and easier to manage without making the hair too oily.

Common Hair Mistakes For The Client We often commit several hair mistakes and do not even realize the
intensity of our actions until the damage is done. Hair problems are often self inflicted and we do not even realize how serious
it can be. Never play around with your hair, you will have to pay a big price for it.
Don’t believe us then
read on to know how you can damage your hair with your own hands. One of the most common mistake is to color your hair on
your own. This is the biggest blunder, no matter how good you think you are, the final result will be shabby. Specialized
hair services and chemical treatments should be done at the hands of a professional haircolorist.
Never ever attempt
to color your hair at home, the finishing can never be good. Reaching the far end of the scalp may be difficult and the sloppy
job will show up. This money saving technique will make you look like an idiot and provide fodder to gossip mongers. You surely
don’t want to be talked about in this way.
Moreover, the shade of the color too would turn out to be too
loud or too subtle. Though you may follow instructions from the product manual but hairdressers know the exact quantity that
should be used. The proportion plays a very important role and even if you go by the proportion mentioned on the pack, it
may not be appropriate for your hair type or the length of your hair.
Chemical treatments are best handled by professional
hair colorist, so do not venture into this unknown world and come out looking like a clown.
Another common mistake
people commit is that they trim their own hair, sometimes they even cut their own hair. This is the last thing you should
do, unless you have very long hair and just need to trim one fourth inch. Else, stay away from the pair of scissors.

Home Remedies for Dry Hair for the
Client Don't over do the shampoo. Shampooing too
often is one of the most common causes of dry hair. Many people believe that squeaky-clean hair is healthy hair, so they wash
it one or more times every day. But shampoos often contain harsh cleaning agents that can strip away your hair's natural oils,
which help hold in moisture. On the other hand, a gentle shampoo will stimulate the oil glands, so you probably shouldn't
go longer than three days without a good lather.
Be kind to your hair. Dry hair is the most fragile type of hair
and is subject to breakage, so it must be handled with care. When lathering, be gentle. Avoid any pulling or yanking on your
hair in any way, which strains the hair shafts. Don't scrub with your fingernails, which can not only break the hair but irritate
your scalp. Work up a lather using your fingertips, instead.
Use a gentle shampoo. Dry hair needs a gentle,
acidic cleanser. The ideal shampoos for dry hair have a pH of between 4.5 and 6.7, but here's a good rule of thumb: Don't
use any hair cleanser that you wouldn't put on your face. Some people recommend baby shampoos, but their pH is usually far
too high; such alkaline shampoos dry out the hair. Acidic shampoos are better for your hair.
Pour on the conditioner.
Strawlike hair needs conditioning. Look for products that contain little or no alcohol, which will dry out hair even more.
Reading labels will help, but it might be simpler just to take a whiff before you buy: Conditioners with little or no fragrance
tend to be low in alcohol or contain none at all. If your hair is really dry, consider using an overnight conditioner, which
you apply before going to bed (you sleep wearing a shower cap) and rinse off in the morning.
Pour the hot oil.
Hair-care professionals often recommend hot-oil treatments to repair dry, damaged hair. Over-the-counter hot-oil products
are available that you heat and place on the hair for 5 to 20 minutes (according to package instructions). Wear a plastic
bag or shower cap over your hair while the hot oil is on, then wash the hair thoroughly with a gentle shampoo.
Nix
the 100 strokes. Despite what you may have heard, too much brushing can actually fracture the hair, causing it to fall out.
Fragile, dry hair is even more vulnerable to excessive brushing. Always brush hair gently and never when it is wet (use a
comb, carefully, when hair is wet). The type of hairbrush you use is important, too. Boar-bristle brushes or "vent"
brushes are good choices, since their rubberized tips don't pull the hair excessively.
Give yourself a scalp massage.
One way to stimulate the oil glands on the scalp is to gently massage the scalp during shampoos. Gently rubbing your scalp
with your fingertips stimulates the oil glands. It feels pretty good, too.
Pace your hair treatments. If you perm
on Tuesday, dye your hair on Thursday, and put it in hot rollers on Saturday, your hair is destined to be dry and damaged.
You don't have to abandon styling practices such as dyes, permanent waves, or hair straightening if you have dry hair. Just
keep in mind that it's important to space those treatments out as much as possible.
Hold the heat. Using hot combs,
hot rollers, and blow-dryers is asking for dry hair. Hot rollers are the worst because they stretch the hair while the heat
shrinks it. Hot combs also tend to stretch the hair while exposing it to heat. If you must use artificial heat, keep your
blow-dryer on a low setting and avoid pulling or stretching the hair while drying.
